David A. Bivans, President and Founder

After 14 years in technical and managerial positions in the chemical industry in which he gained substantial product and commercial research, development, budgeting, startup and marketing experience, David established Small Business Associates to allow him to share his business management knowledge with other business persons and entrepreneurs.

He received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute.  He is a certified management consultant (CMC), licensed professional engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania and an enrolled agent (EA), enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service.

Karen F. Bivans, Vice President

A degreed educator with over 25 years experience, Karen has demonstrated the proficiency and experience to painlessly teach business owners the skills and understanding they need to manage successful businesses. She has extensive experience in the tax realm, including tax planning, preparation and representation.

She is an IRS enrolled agent and also has expertise in payroll and trust taxes (such as sales tax).
